Event description

GMCA Western, in collaboration with the University Consulting Group (UCG), is hosting the Inaugural Beginner’s Case Competition. The goal of this beginner’s case competition is to provide students with minimal case experience an opportunity to learn real-world business problem-solving skills regardless of their education. You and your team will be provided with a business problem and tasked with creating a solution to address the issue.

Event overview

Undergraduate (including HBA I), graduate students, professional degree students, and postdoctoral fellows from all faculties and programs are welcome. The following events will take place as part of the competition:

Case Competition Workshop
That’s right, we are going to give you a crash course on how to crack the case FREE of charge! This workshop will be led by experienced casers. You’ll be taught everything you need to know about how to crack the case before you break off with your group to work on the case for the next 8 days! Note, your team MUST attend this event if you intend on competing. The case will be released following this Workshop.

Coaches’ Corner (self-directed)
You’ll have the chance to sit down and chat with a mentor who will guide you to solve the case!

Case Competition & Networking
At the competition, this is your chance to deliver your solution to a panel of judges. You’ll be given exactly 10 minutes to present the case and your solution, and the judges will have 5 minutes to ask you questions. Following the competition, you’ll have the chance to network with your peers and judges! The deadline to register for the competition is Wednesday, November 13, 2019.
