GMCA UTM Event: Ace the Case

GMCA-UTM is excited to announce its first event of 2018! Ace the Case is an opportunity to walk through a real case with an experienced QuintilesIMS consultant. The consultant will demonstrate how they approach cases, and give you tips on getting into the world of consulting!

The info session will be led by the incoming consultant, who will share their valuable knowledge and experiences in the consulting industry. Attendees will be able to network and ask questions after the session. Refreshments will be provided.

GMCA UTM Event: All Things Consulting

Do you want to learn more about consulting? If so, you should attend our All Things Consulting event! The GMCA-UTM executive officers will give you a comprehensive understanding of what consulting is, followed by interview and application preparation tips, and a walk-through of how McKinsey consultants tackle their cases and present their findings!

All attendees will receive a digital case interview package containing sample case interviews and online resources they can use to prepare for case interviews.


Strategy in Action Case Competition

The Graduate Management Consulting Association at the University of Toronto-Mississauga (GMCA-UTM) is proudly hosting the Strategy in Action Case Competition in partnership with the Master of Management of Innovation (MMI) program. Participants will get an opportunity to network with management consultants and industry professionals from top firms. Prizes will be awarded including a grand prize of $500! We are also pleased to announce Pierre Desrochers, Director of Institute for Management and Innovation (IMI), as our keynote speaker. Please see details below.



Monday, February 27- Friday, March 3

Monday Noon: Case released via e-mail

Monday Evening: Introduction to the case competition and Q&A session (you can join virtually or in person)

Friday Afternoon: Keynote Speaker, First Round, Final Round (Lunch and snacks will be provided.)

Friday Evening: Networking session with consultants, industry professionals and professors at the Erin Mills Pump (Dinner and a celebratory drink will be provided.)



First Place: $500

Finalists: $50 each



To participate in the case competition, you must be in the 3rd or 4th year of undergraduate studies or pursuing a graduate degree. A maximum of one (1) MBA student per team is allowed. Students from all Canadian universities are eligible.

If you are interested, please apply as a team of four (4) by submitting one-page resumes for all team members and filling out the 2017 Strategy in Action Case Competition Application before the deadline. Selected teams will receive an acceptance letter and ticket payment invitation of $40 per team payable prior to the competition.

We hope to provide you an opportunity to learn about a rewarding career in management consulting and why graduate students are highly sought after by firms in this field. What Is Consulting: Panel Discussion with Consultants from Top Firms

This panel discussion session will be led by management consultants who will share their experiences in the world of consulting. A Q&A segment will also be included to provide an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the various consulting firms our guest consultants represent.
