Whether you are beginning to explore management consulting as a career path or currently in the process of recruiting for a firm, case competitions are a fantastic opportunity to develop your collaborative problem-solving skills.

In our virtual 10-day beginners case competition, Social Media: Survive or Thrive, participants will work in teams to tackle real-life business challenges and present their solutions to judges from our partnering firms including Bain, Strategy&, McKinsey & Company, Sixsense, ZS Associates, KPMG, Deloitte Digital, Invictus, Oliver Wyman, Trindent, Shopper’s Drug Mart and more! This unique opportunity will help participants assess their aptitude and enthusiasm for a career in management consulting while also learning from judges who have successfully transitioned into the industry.

Case Competition Fundamentals

If you are new to case competitions or would like to refresh your approach to casing, join us on Monday, November 15th, 2021 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM EST for our information webinar Case Competition Fundamentals!  This event will feature a speed networking segment which will allow you to connect with other trainees and assemble your case competition dream team.  

Case Competition Fundamentals – Learn how to approach a business case

  3. An open Q&A period 
  4. Speed networking session to connect with GMCA trainees

Social Media: Survive or Thrive

Participating teams will have a total of 10 days to create their final slide deck. The case will be released on November 23rd,  2021 (12:01 AM EST) and teams must submit their slide deck by December 2nd, 2021 (11:59 PM EST). Social Media: Survive or Thrive will take place on December 3rd, 2021 (6:30 PM – 9:30 PM EST). The competition will consist of two rounds: a preliminary and final round. Each team will give a 10-minute presentation of their recommended solution to a panel of judges from our partnering consulting firms. Presentations will be followed by a 8-minute Q&A period. This year we will be awarding $1000+ in monetary prizes!  

 The deadline to submit your team application is Saturday, November 20th, 2021 at 11:59 PM. You will be notified of your application status on Monday, November 22nd, 2021 at 12:01 AM. 

Eligibility

  • Graduate students and post-doctoral fellows that attend a Canadian university    
  • Teams must be composed of THREE or FOUR (3-4) members  
  • Maximum of ONE (1) current undergraduate, MBA student, graduate alum, member with 2+ experiences with case competitions OR a member who has won a case competition
  • Maximum of TWO (2) teammates with 2+ years of industry experience per team is allowed 
  • Eligible teams are required to apply together.  

If you do not have a complete team, our info session Case Competition Fundamentals will feature a meet and greet portion to allow you to meet other individuals interested in participating. Additionally, you can join our  GMCA Members Slack and post in the case competitions channel that you’re looking for team members.

Coach’s Corner – Get feedback on your team’s slide deck

We will be hosting Coach’s Corner on November 29th (30-minute time slots between 6:00 PM – 8:45 PM EST). We encourage all teams to register by November 26th, 2021, at 11:59 PM EST to receive feedback on their presentation outline and ask any outstanding questions.  Accepted teams will receive a link to sign-up on a first-come first-serve basis.
