We are excited to be hosting GMCA’s inaugural Case Writing Competition, bringing together graduate trainees to tackle a real-world business case.
The GMCA Case Writing Competition invites graduate trainees (MScs, PhDs, Postdocs, MDs, PharmDs, and JDs) to design an original interview-style consulting case. Participants will step into the role of case designers by researching, structuring, and writing a case based on real world-business problems, mirroring the analytical and communication skills used in consulting and related industries. Submissions must also include a brief outline of the expected analytical approach and rough solutions.
This competition is designed to help participants: (1) gain a deeper understanding of case structure and the elements of a strong, compelling case, (2) develop analytical storytelling and business writing skills, and (3) stand out to recruiters by demonstrating a sophisticated grasp of consulting problem-solving frameworks. Participants will also receive feedback on their submissions, offering an external perspective on their case design and reasoning that may inform future casing and professional development.
For questions or concerns about this event, please do not hesitate to e-mail us at info@gmcacanada.com.
The case instructions will be released on March 4, 2026 (12:01 AM ET). Teams must submit their final written case by Wednesday, March 11, 2026 (11:59 PM ET). All submissions will first be reviewed by the GMCA executive team, after which the top three cases will be determined by external judges. Winners will be announced on March 30, 2026.
A total of $200 in monetary prizes will be awarded: First Place ($100), Second Place ($60), and Third Place ($40).
Please apply using the link below by Friday, February 27th, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. We will collect a $10 registration fee to help cover the costs of running this program. You will be notified of your application status on March 2nd, 2026.
